Artist's Comments

Misty cliffs photographed in Canada.

Post processing is much different to most of my work. The only way to get this image to look decent was with a fair bit of HDR and processing in photoshop but I kinda liked the way it turned out, tell me what you think please.

I think i might work on this more sometime and try get it to look abit different, not sure if it will be better have to see. Really would like to know what any viewers think please!

Comments and critique appreciated!

Given that the upper part is quite featureless, cropping out the top 20-25% might be an option. That would leave the light part of the fog + a bit of the dark and have more internal dynamic.

Increasing the saturation of the green trees (and even the rock face) might be an option.

Conversely, you could try B&W...the pic would have 3 regions of contrasting luminosity; light top, dark middle, lightish bottom. To get the green to convert as a medium/light tone you would need to up the green component in channel mixer while converting.

All in all, I am sure that there is a good pic in there somewhere. :)

That's a good point about the fog. What do you think about the colours from it? This as you can probably tell is another HDR. I was taking this picture from way away at 300mm zoom. Through the fog as you might know makes it kind of unclear and not very nice. So i had to use a hdr of 9 shots to get the image looking decent. I just wasn't totally sure where to go from there. I added a little saturation some sharpening and thats about it really.

I was thinking of whitening the fog a little. I did have a go at B&W but i might try it again. Thanks very much for the comments again :) If the colouring the fog doesn't work and as you say it is rather featureless i will try cropping it. Thank you very much your comments do help!

If you can bring out some texture in the fog area, that would certainly add to the picture.

Featureless is not always a problem, like in your tree-in-fog pic. If you have a strong focal point, the rest of the pic can be quite plain. So the ';problem here is not the fog, it is the relative homogeneity of the rest. One large rock outcropping or a distinctive tree, something like that, would transform the pic.

Glad my ramblings are not driving you mad. :)

Your "rambling" are far from driving me mad, i find them very helpful. I wish more people would "ramble" haha :). I'm gona try some of the things you said, i agree about the homogeneity of the image it does lack a strong focal point, i'll see if i can work something out with that. Thank you very much! :)

great textures and concept :) just missing your artistic sig on the bottom!

I prefer this over the edit personally. Nonetheless a gorgeous piece.

I agree that b&w could look outstanding on this one, it would take out the random yellow at the bottom o.0 The rest of it looks near two toned(obviously it's not but that's the vive) so to me it looks as if you're trying to get it to stand out which I don't think is the point :P

Well framed and personally since the fog has multiple shades, I'm a fan. But that's just me.
